The County Assembly Service Board of Kitui wishes to invite applications from qualified persons for the following positions:
Research Officer
REF: KT/CASB/2013/13 (1 Post)
Salary Scale 6: Ksh.41, 590×2,070-43,660×2,220-45,880×2,310 -48,190×2,400-50,590×2,550-53,140×2,700-55,840 PM.
(a) Duties and responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of an officer in this position include:
i. Provision of non-partisan professional research assistance and analysis to members, committees and staff of the assembly;
ii. Assessing the strengths and weakness of policy options;
iii. Providing expert interpretation, explanation and analysis;
iv. Maintaining a periodically updated inventory of publications on current issues;
v. Providing technical back up to the house committees
(b) Requirement for direct appointment
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have the following qualifications:
i. Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in a specialized discipline including
economics, agriculture, environmental quality, sociology, science, international trade/ commerce and other science related field.
ii. Have thorough knowledge and understanding of the concepts and techniques of
professional research, with particular emphasis on public policy analysis;
iii. An ability to write, edit in a clear, concise and understandable manner ;
iv. Satisfactorily served as research officer in similar positions with comparable
responsibilities in like organizations/reputable research institution;
v. Have at least three (3) years continuous work experience.
