Our client, a French high Technology provider of broadband terminals, convergence and energy solutions, seeks to recruit a qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Optical Fibre Project Manager for a period of six months. The successful candidate will be in charge of a specific project during the six months period.

Job Summary:The Optical Fibre Project Manager will ensure efficient and profitable work within the scope of the Optical Fiber contract. He will coordinate site surveys, design and plan the execution of the Optical Fibre Project. He will monitor the implementation and make any necessary changes to the plans in order to optimize the performance of the project in accordance with the terms and conditions of the clients’ contract and technical requirements related to Aerial/Duct Optical Fibre design and construction of Dielectric Self Supporting fiber optic cable systems attached to GRID assets. The successful candidate must be highly experienced in Aerial Optical Fibre Cable roll-outs along Electricity Power lines.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Establishing project objectives, analyzing technical requirements and collaborating with the management
• Determining roll-out requirements and rules; establishing standards and test requirements/procedures
• Developing planning and control methods and procedures
• Controlling project plans and approving designs, specifications, plans and schedule changes
• Coordinating operations of the Project implementation in order to meet contractual obligations and targets
• Ensuring Project costs planning/Budgeting, optimization and control
• Identifying and forecasting costs and requirements
• Managing Project staff/teams and sub-contractors
• Co-ordination of Project site meetings and reports
• Commensurate with the nature and scope of work in project implementation demonstrates them to project teams and ensures their application.
• Ensuring that all permits and approvals required for the execution of the project are available and valid.
• Preparation of project status reports
• Collecting, analyzing and summarizing of information and trends.

Qualifications and Competences 

• Must have technical expertise and experience in Optical Fibre Technology
• Must have expertise and experience in Aerial Optical Fibre Cable laying along electricity Power lines
• Must be a holder of University degree in engineering preferably Telecommunications or Networks
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar role
• Must possess project handling techniques (leading teams, organization, and budgeting, financial management)
• Have good communication and report writing skills (xls, .doc, Visio reporting)
• Have demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects and initiatives
• Have ability to motivate staff and achieve results
